Tank-Moulded Tank

“Tank-moulded tank” typically refers to one of two distinct categories: rotomoulded/blow-moulded water storage tanks or moulded glass/polycarbonate aquariums. Both types are defined by a seamless, one-piece construction that prevents leaks and increases durability.

  • Water Storage Tanks
These are heavy-duty containers used for residential and industrial water storage, manufactured using high-heat moulding processes.
    Manufacturing Processes:
Rotational Moulding (Roto-Moulding): Uses heat and biaxial rotation to create thick, stress-free walls with reinforced corners. It is the gold standard for large Roto Moulded Water Storage Tanks.
Blow Moulding: A faster process that produces Blow Moulded Tanks which are typically lighter and more cost-effective for medium capacities.
    Key Features:
Layering: Available in 2 to 4 layers (e.g., 4 Layer White Foam) for UV protection and thermal insulation.
Materials: Made from food-grade virgin plastic (LLDPE/HDPE) to ensure water remains potable.
Top Brands: Leading manufacturers include Sintex, Supreme (Siltank), and Vectus.
  • Moulded Aquarium Tanks
In the pet industry, these are “all-in-one” fish tanks with curved front edges rather than siliconed joints.
Design: Feature a single piece of glass or polycarbonate bent at the corners, providing 360° viewing without obstructive seams.
Components: Often sold as kits including a built-in filter, LED lighting, and lid.
